KY POLANCO: We’re also seeing some herstoric moments in this last election of different representation and different people from the LGBTQ plus community, from the immigrant community.
So what are you hopeful for in the future of politics when it comes to representation?.
PARK CANNON: I remember back in 2016 when I ran, I was really clear that I was going to run as an openly queer person in Georgia.
And there were so many people who said, wait, can’t you just say lesbian? Do you have to say queer? How are you going to do that in the Bible belt? And so to fast forward to 2022, and we have queer folks openly running for office.
We have elevated numbers of that is really exciting. It feels like a rainbow wave that I have been waiting for and also a part of.
